Photoshop on the Go? There’s An App For That.

With the advent of creative and design applications, like Brushes, that take full advantage of the multi or capacitative touch of mobile devices, it’s about time that Adobe finally takes the plunge. Gizmodo, hot on the technological, grapevine trail, most recently authored a feature article on this piece of app-breaking news.

Altogether there will be three, Photoshop touch apps available on day of launch, which coincides with the release of Adobe CS 5.5. My personal favorite is the Adobe Nav for Photoshop CS 5. This is a dream come true for the designer on-the-go, as it will wirelessly and simultaneously synchronize work created on your mobile device, be it tablet or smartphone, to your desktop Photoshop. While this technology may sound exclusive only to Adobe products, the Nav will be compatible with other painting or photo editing apps that are also engineered to operate with Photoshop. Talk about complete creative freedom and control!

All Color, All The Time

Ever find yourself stuck in a rut with colors…or shall I say color “block?” I know I do, and I am fairly sure that this is a common problem among us designers. Never fear though — as Color Collective (CC) is here!

I recently came across CC while perusing through my daily, design digest (alliterations, for the win!). Lauren Willhite, the founder of CC, culls through a vast array of stunning photos, mostly from the fashion industry, and pulls from them a primary color palette. How genius is that? It also helps that CC is beautifully laid out, with color dots representing the selected color palette towards the bottom of every picture. What a fantastic resource for the otherwise color-bankrupt designer!

Worst Logo Ever!

As graphic designer we all strive to create the best possible work we can muster for whatever project we are working on. But what if one day a client asks you to create the worst possible piece of design you can come up with? This request would make any right minded designers stomach churn. This is just the case in an online contest called “How Low Can Your Logo” where you, as a designer, are encouraged to submit the worst possible logo you can come up with.  Go ahead give it your best worst.
